Autonomous Volvo 7900 in Singapore

Volvo B0E (7900 Electric) (2018)
VIN code: YV3U1W125J1190733
Unknown operator - RD 3169T

In March 2019, Volvo and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) of Singapore unveiled what they claimed to be the world's first full-size, autonomous electric bus. Two such buses were built: The one in this photo and another with registration RD 3162L. They have been tested on the NTU "Smart Campus", and one of them was presented at the 2019 ITS World Congress in Singapore where it made short round-trips in an enclosed area on Marina Bay. The Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA) was hoping that autonomous buses could play a role in public transportation in Singapore from 2022. The two Volvo autonomous buses should be capable of autonomous operation on SAE level 4. But the demonstration on Marina Bay took place with a "driver" onboard!
